Approach to Tambobo Bay Anchorage

You can safely approach the entrance point (WP 1) within a sector with bearings 345° - 050° to the entrance point (WP 1). The bearings are given from seaward. Maximum recommended draft 15 feet. Max. water depth at the typhoon safe anchorage is about 6 fathoms (36 ft).

We listen on VHF channel 68 during daylight hours. On your approach we can see you from the Inn Bar and can give "shore advice" in case you drift to the side of the channel.

Positions are given in degrees, minutes, and seconds of arc. If your GPS is formatted to use fractions of minutes I recommend you recalculate instead of changing formatting. If you change your GPS format for these waypoints, then most probably all earlier positions in your GPS memory will also change and turn incorrect.

Example:
03' 5.8" = 05.8/60 = 0.0966... = 0.097 which gives 03.1'
Use as many decimals as your GPS accepts. ½ second of arc (latitude) equals about 15 metres and 0.01' (latitude) equals about 18 metres. Note that the channel is about 40 metres wide at the narrowest point.

Note :There is a submerged wreck at the western extremity of the channel in approximate position N 09° 03' 18.5", E 123° 06' 56.0".

It is marked as: PA Chart symbol for a sunken wreck in the adjoining printable chart. There is also available a black and white picture (75 KB) oriented very closely true north up, this can be used as visual aid only. Before you print out either one, please adjust all your printer margins (top, bottom, and both sides) to 0.5 cm (0.2 in.).

All courses given below are true courses.
